Test and staging apps
Separate Steam apps that belong to a game but have no store page of their own: staging branches, test servers and playtests, such as Rust - Staging Branch.
How it is calculated
Steam's client network names each such app's parent game; we list the apps whose parent we track. Each one's public builds are counted as a game's are, and its players are read from the Steam Web API every few hours, the busiest games' apps first.

Caveats
- These apps are not games in our catalogue: they are never counted as releases, ranked or listed on their own.
- Steam gives no player count for an app nobody can launch, such as a closed playtest, so some show none.
- We see an app's builds only from the day we found it.
