明朝初年，武林领袖朱元璋在带领武林推翻元朝后，大肆屠戮武林人士。使得代表秩序的朝廷与代表自由的武林之间的矛盾再度激化。与此同时蒙古也勾结倭寇、海盗、五毒教等外邦势力意图重夺政权。
